Violence Protection Structure

This project funds the construction of a pavilion-like structure in Ross Lake Park. The space will be used to host programs designed and supervised by the local police department, providing a safe and structured environment for community engagement.

Why?

  • Promote recreational activities for youth age 5-18
  • Foster positive relationships between youth and local police
  • Provides an alternative to unsupervised activities
  • Increased participation leads to:
      • decreased crime, particularly theft, violence, and home invasion
      • more purchases at local businesses
      • greater mental and physical health
  • Also makes Beaverton a more attractive location for new families to live, work, and play, which bolsters the economy

Structure

  • 80′ x 100′ structure
  • Restrooms and changing rooms
  • Basketball and volleyball court, space for indoor and outdoor movie nights, game days, an indoor skating rink during the winter, and much more
