Planning Commission

Purpose

The Planning Commission guides the physical development of the City of Beaverton to promote public health, safety, and general welfare.

The City of Beaverton Planning Commission is established under the authority of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (Public Act 33 of 2008, as amended) and the Beaverton City Charter and Ordinances.

Typically 5-9 members. Must be a resident of the City of Beaverton, with the exception of one member who may be an elective or appointive officer of the City.

Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

Purpose

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) makes zoning text and zoning map interpretations, hears appeals of administrative decisions, and grants variances from ordinance standards where there is practical difficulty or unnecessary hardship meeting ordinance standards.

The City of Beaverton Zoning Board of Appeals is established under the authority of the Michigan Planning Enabling Act (Public Act 33 of 2008, as amended) and the Beaverton City Zoning Ordinance.
